THE BANYAN
Some places you book. This one you settle into.
The Banyan holds five rooms. Not fifty. That number is the whole idea.
It means the courtyard is never crowded. It means the cook learns how you take your tea by the second morning. It means that when you come back from a safari at eleven, still turning over what you saw, there is somebody who wants to hear about it.
The lodge stands where a family home stood first — built in the early 1990s, before Bandhavgarh became what it is now. The road outside has changed. The forest around it has not, and neither has the house’s temperament.

Closest to Tala Gate
The entrance to Bandhavgarh National Park is a short walk from our gate. On safari mornings you are not driving in the dark. You are having your coffee while others are still on the road
The River Below
The Charan Ganga runs past the property. It begins inside the park, at the feet of the reclining Vishnu carved into the Bandhavgarh hills, and it brings the forest’s birdlife right to our boundary.
Five Rooms Only
Every stay is arranged by hand. Meal times bend to your safari timings, not the other way around.
ACCOMMODATION
Five rooms, each with its own outdoors.
Each room is generous — a sleeping area, a sitting area, a large bathroom, and a private outdoor space of its own. Stone floors underfoot. Local wood, made locally. Light that arrives sideways through the trees in the early morning.
There is no template being followed here. The rooms were furnished the way a house gets furnished: slowly, and by people who live in it.
What a day here actually looks like.
A safari before sunrise. Breakfast when you return, whenever that is. The long, warm middle of the day in the courtyard, or in the sitting room with its high ceiling and its shelf of books.
Later, a walk along the river with somebody who can tell you which call belongs to which bird. Then the light goes copper, the temperature drops, and a fire is lit outside.
